Joshua Baer Instructor

Joshua helps people quit their jobs and become entrepreneurs.

In 2008 he founded Capital Factory, a startup incubator and co-working space in Austin, Texas. Josh founded his first startup in 1996 in his college dormitory at Carnegie Mellon University and now teaches a class at the University of Texas for student entrepreneurs. Josh was recently recognized as the Austin Community Leader of the Year, Tribeza Person of the Year, Henry Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute, Eisenhower Fellow and a member of the National Committee on US-China Relations Young Leaders Forum. Josh lives in Austin with his wife Amy and three children.

Mellie Price Instructor

Mellie is an experienced investor, executive, fund manager, technologist, and eight-time entrepreneur

She is the Executive Director of Texas Venture Labs at the McCombs School of Business as well as a Partner at Notley Ventures. Mellie recently served as the inaugural Managing Director of Texas Health CoLab at the Dell Medical School where she focused on healthcare related innovation. As a founder & former CEO of Austin’s own Front Gate Tickets and co-founder of both Capital Factory and SoftMatch, Mellie brings a wealth investment, operational, and educational expertise to the learning environment.

Bob Metcalfe Professor of Innovation

Bob has 23+ years of successful experience in science, engineering, high-tech entrepreneurship, and venture capital.

He is UT Austin Professor of Innovation and Murchison Fellow of Free Enterprise, directing the Innovation Center in the Cockrell School of Engineering. He is also Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Cockrell School of Engineering and Professor of Information Management in the McCombs School of Business.
